The Greenway's Future
(Updated Late March, 2009)
-
A grant for $123,000
from the Bradley Health Initiative Endowment Fund was received in July
2008 to fund the next portion of Phase IV (City School property to Mouse
Creek Road underpass). The City of Cleveland will complete this section
of the Greenway in 2009.
-
A government grant of
$569,000 for Phase V (Raider Drive to Tinsley Park) was received in
August 2008. Phase V will proceed north under Raider Drive, cross Mouse
Creek behind Raider Field and connect with the current Tinsley Park
Trail. It will connect with the Greenway Phase IV at the Mouse Creek
Road underpass.
-
A future phase calls
for the southern origination point of the greenway at the Village Green.
This phase will go under Inman Street (underpass already completed) and
will terminate at Willow Street.
-
In years to come, the
greenway will continue from Mohawk Drive to the Hiwassee River. The
exact route and surfaces have not been determined, but will likely
incorporate the Cleveland Utilities easement near the soccer complex.
-
“Spurs” of the
original conception of the Greenway (Village Green to Hiwassee)
have20been considered and include a passage under 25th Street from
Spring Creek development to Lee University, a neighborhood connector
north along Fillauer Branch, and passage under Keith Street from Tinsley
Park to the McKenzie Financial Center.
